Overview
Purili is a self-hosted search engine. By design, we collect as little data as possible. This policy explains what we do and do not collect when you use puri.li.
What we do not collect
- We do not track your searches or build a search history tied to you.
- We do not use advertising trackers or sell data to third parties.
- We do not create user accounts or require registration.
- We do not share any data with external analytics platforms.
What is stored locally
Search history and appearance preferences (theme, background) are stored only in your browser's local storage and cookies. They never leave your device unless you explicitly use the “Save to browser” option in Settings, which stores your preference as a server-side cookie for cross-device consistency.
Submitted sites
When you submit a site through the Add site form, we store the submitted public URL in a crawl queue, along with the same host's homepage and a bounded set of direct same-host links. We use a local anti-spam check and rate limit; the form does not load third-party captcha scripts.
Server logs
Our web server may keep standard access logs (IP address, request path, timestamp) for up to 7 days for security and debugging purposes. These logs are not shared and are automatically deleted.
Third-party content
Purili does not load analytics, trackers, third-party scripts, remote favicons, remote fonts, map tiles, or image files directly in your browser. External data required for optional features is requested by the Purili server and returned through puri.li, so providers do not receive your IP address or browser details.
Submitted queries may still be sent from our server to the relevant provider when you explicitly use features such as Images, Maps, Weather, Translation, sports scores, or Wikipedia infocards. Search autocomplete does not send partial keystrokes to external services.
